The Team
The Technology Enablement team at American Tower drives innovation to advance operational excellence within the Operations organization. The team partners across departments, including IT, business operations, and other functions to deliver data-driven solutions that enhance asset management and streamline workflows.
As an Associate Systems Engineer, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to develop and support software applications and data models that power our operations. You’ll contribute to cross-functional projects, participate in the automation of data analysis, and help build interactive tools for both internal and customer-facing use. This role offers the opportunity to learn from mentors, expand your technical skillset, and play a key part in shaping the future of technology at American Tower.
What You Can Offer Us
Contribute to the development and support of data-driven software solutions that enhance how American Tower interacts with its assets. Assist with building interactive models and visualizations of U.S.-based assets using modern tools and techniques. Support cross-functional projects by helping to automate data analysis and contribute to user interface development. Collaborate with the IT department and other teams to support system integrations and ensure smooth data workflows. Assist with identifying opportunities to use unmanned aircraft system data to improve operations; help define scopes and requirements under guidance. Help develop internal and customer-facing software tools using standard data collection and processing techniques. Work with peers and mentors to ensure data quality and scalability in processing and analyses workflows. Take the initiative to learn how to use new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Perform other duties as assigned, with a focus on learning and growing within the role.What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent practical experience required. Between 0–2 years of software engineering or data modeling experience, ideally with exposure to AI/ML, cloud computing, or 3D modeling technologies. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java (coursework or internship experience is acceptable). Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies through academic projects or internships. Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud); certifications or hands-on labs preferred. Experience with point cloud manipulation, CAD, third-party GIS, or photogrammetry software preferred. Interest in or experience with photogrammetry, CAD, GIS, or point cloud data preferred but not required. Approximately 10% travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present ideas clearly and work with cross-functional teams. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance and mentorship.
