Job Description/Requirements
Africa Assistance Plan (AAP) Ghana is a Christian non-governmental organization committed to ending all forms of poverty in Africa by equipping churches and empowering communities through holistic development. For over 40 years, AAP has been at the forefront of driving transformational change in Ghana and beyond through programs in child and youth empowerment, church and community development, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
AAP Ghana is currently seeking a passionate and competent Programs Officer to support our growing work in advancing community-led development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to our faith-based mission and be eager to help implement sustainable programs that uplift vulnerable communities and promote lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
· Assist in the design, planning, and execution of holistic development programs aligned with AAP’s mission and strategic plan.
· Support project implementation in areas such as child and youth development, Christian education, WASH, and church/community empowerment.
· Engage with community leaders, local partners, and church stakeholders to ensure culturally sensitive and context-specific program delivery.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
· Collaborate with the M&E team to collect relevant data and evaluate program impact.
· Contribute to timely and accurate program reports, success stories, and case studies for internal use and donor reporting.
· Support learning and adaptation processes to improve future programming.
Stakeholder Engagement and Community Mobilization:
· Foster strong relationships with beneficiary communities, faith-based groups, local government bodies, and NGOs.
· Facilitate community engagement workshops, training sessions, and public awareness events.
· Ensure programs align with community needs and are participatory and inclusive.
Resource Mobilization and Communications:
· Assist in preparing concept notes and inputs for grant proposals.
· Contribute to the creation of communication materials such as newsletters, project briefs, and impact stories that reflect AAP’s voice and values.
· Coordinate with communications staff to enhance the visibility and impact of AAP’s work.
Other Duties:
· Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Programs Director or management from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Theology, Project Management, or related field.
· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in NGO project implementation or community development roles.
· Demonstrated passion for Christian ministry and community transformation.
· Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, with experience engaging grassroots communities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
· Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Willingness to travel to rural project areas.
