Job Description/Requirements
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching & Classroom Instruction
- Deliver daily lessons in English, Mathematics, Science, Creative Arts, Social Studies, and Reading using approved curriculum.
- Prepare detailed lesson notes, teaching materials, and weekly teaching plans.
- Use age-appropriate teaching methods: phonics, storytelling, activities, group work, demonstration, and guided practice.
- Assess pupil learning through classwork, homework, quizzes, and projects.
- Differentiate instruction to support slow learners, high achievers, and special-needs pupils.
Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline using positive, child-friendly behavior management techniques.
- Ensure the classroom environment is clean, safe, and conducive to learning.
- Establish routines for morning work, group work, transitions, and end-of-day procedures.
Pupil Assessment & Reporting
- Keep accurate records of attendance, marks, behavior, and academic progress.
- Prepare report cards and assessment feedback each term.
- Identify struggling pupils early and create intervention support plans.
Communication & Parent Engagement
- Hold meetings with parents to discuss academic performance and behavior.
- Communicate regularly through notes, phone calls, or scheduled conferences.
- Participate in PTA activities and educational programs as required.
Professional Duties
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with other teachers on curriculum planning and teaching strategies.
- Uphold school policies, child protection guidelines, and code of conduct.
- Perform supervisory duties (break time, assembly, dismissal) as assigned.
Extra Duties & School Support
- Support extracurricular activities: clubs, sports, reading programs, field trips.
- Help organize school events such as literacy week, sports day, cultural day, etc.
- Assist management with school improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Basic Education / Early Childhood / Primary Education.
- Valid teaching license (NTS/NTC where applicable).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong command of English (spoken and written).
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to teach reading using phonics.
- Creativity, patience, and passion for working with young children.
- Ability to integrate technology (tablets, projectors, educational apps) is a plus.
