Job descriptions & requirements

Finance & Investment Intern (NSS/Graduate)

A. BACKGROUND

McJones Energy is an impact-driven climate solutions company converting waste into valuable products to deliver carbon removal. Our flagship project is a high-growth circular economy venture leveraging the Ghana-Switzerland Article 6.2 bilateral agreement to deliver industrial-scale carbon mitigation.

We are seeking a high-caliber Finance & Investment Intern (NSS/Graduate) to support our project finance and investor relations functions. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of Structured Finance and the Global Carbon Market.

B. FOCUS AREAS (ELIGIBLE DISCIPLINES)

Graduates from the following backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Finance & Economics: BSc. Administration (Finance Option), Economics, Banking & Finance, or Actuarial Science.
  • Quantitative Studies: Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering graduates with a strong interest in financial modeling.
  • Accounting: CA/ACCA student-members or Accounting graduates.

C. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate will work directly under the Managing Director:

  • Financial Modelling: Develop, maintain and stress-test the Integrated Financial Model (IFR) including Levered IRR, NPV, and Cash Flow Waterfalls.
  • Carbon Revenue Analysis: Support the valuation of ITMO (Compliance) and CDR (Voluntary) revenue streams based on global market pricing.
  • Investor Relations: Support the drafting of Investor Briefs, Pitch Decks, and Information Memorandums for international investors.
  • Data Reconciliation: Audit and reconcile feedstock data from several vendors to ensure financial projections align with operational reality.
  • Due Diligence: Assist in preparing the "Data Room" for the $2.3M debt facility application, including tracking Conditions Precedent (CPs).

D. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced Excel: Proficiency in complex formulas, pivot tables, and basic financial functions (IRR, XNPV).
  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to explain the difference between levered and unlevered returns.
  • Strategic Writing: Ability to draft professional narratives for high-net-worth investors and institutional funds.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in managing decimal points—critical for carbon credit accounting where small errors impact millions in revenue.
  • Passion for Climate Finance: An interest in how the Paris Agreement (Article 6) can drive African industrialization.

WORK WITH US: To apply, send a copy of your CV with a cover letter highlighting your financial modeling experience to: jobs@mcjonesenergy.com
