Assist. Farm/Lab Manager

Responsibilities:

• Disease Monitoring: Oversee necropsies, blood sampling, and microbiological testing (e.g., Salmonella, Avian Influenza) to identify pathogens.
• Quality Control: Manage testing for feed quality, nutritional value, and water safety to ensure optimal flock health and growth rates for birds. Yield forecasting, pest control and post-harvest shelf-life trials
  
• Vaccination Efficacy: Test antibody titers to evaluate the success of flock vaccination programs.
• Staff Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise lab technicians, ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all lab procedures meet agricultural and health authority standards, such as Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana regulations, to maintain biosecurity.
  
• Data Management: Record and analyze testing trends, and provide actionable reports to farm management and veterinarians.
  
• Inventory & Budget: Manage the laboratory budget, procure testing reagents, and ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  
• Assist the farm manager in the day to operations of the farm.

Job Qualifications

• Education: HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Microbiology, Veterinary Technology, Crop Science or a related field.
• Skills & Knowledge: Hands-on mastery of pipetting, aseptic technique, media preparation, and molecular diagnostics, soil testing, yield forecasting, post-harvest shelf-lift trials. Multi-tasking of crop and animal operations (poultry)
  
• Poultry/Plant Pathobiology: In-depth understanding of avian anatomy, common flock diseases, and immunization mechanics, corn & tomatoes diseases.
