Your Impact
- Support the Team Lead Control Systems Site to maintain and enhance the availability, operability, and effectiveness of the fixed plant industrial control systems for a given site.
- This role provides control systems technical support for DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems, networking and telemetry, and integrating modern technologies into the ICS.
- The role reviews performance metrics, develops corrective actions, supports operations and maintenance staff, collaborates with vendors, manages change and associated implementation risks, and participates in global communities of practice.
As Part Of Our Team You Will
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development and technical regulatory compliance.
- Comply with Newmont’s Fatality Risk Management program, Electrical Safety Standards, and all directives given by a Newmont-appointed Site Electrical Authority.
- Support the site Control Systems Team Lead to maintain and improve the availability and performance of all fixed plant control systems at a given site.
- Support the site Control Systems Team Lead to monitor, report and improve the key ICS performance metrics (alarm & controller reporting, system availability, etc.)
- Participate in operations and maintenance pre-start and handover meetings, remaining informed of regional priorities, issues, and initiatives.
- Implement minor temporary and permanent change requests to ICS software / applications.
- Execute and / or support projects and maintenance activities impacting on site industrial control systems including both field and office-based tasks.
- Diagnose and resolve operations and maintenance issues related to the ICS including network, infrastructure, hardware, software, and telemetry related faults.
- Support the OT Infrastructure and manage cyber security risks associated with PLC, DCS firmware and hardware, software, including the PI Historian suite.
- Collaborate with the global fixed plant control systems community.
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Electrical and/or instrumentation trade certificate is essential.
- Additional qualifications in process control or control systems are desirable.
Experience
- At least 5 - 7 years of experience working with control systems in any related industry.
- Significant and demonstrable experience in at least one of the following systems.
- Yokogawa Centum VP DCS.
- Rockwell Control / Compact Logix PLCs.
- Schneider Modicon PLCs.
- Citect SCADA HMI systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of OsiSoft PI application suite desirable.
- Significant exposure and understanding of industrial Ethernet networks.
- Knowledge of industry best practice for industrial control systems.
Additional Knowledge
- Solid understanding and experience in managing and supporting fixed plant control systems, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA technologies.
- Significant hands-on experience with systems such as Yokogawa Centum VP DCS, Rockwell PLCs, Schneider Modicon PLCs, or Citect SCADA HMI.
- Strong proficiency in industrial Ethernet networks, ICS communication protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP/IP, OPC, Profibus), and IT/OT fundamentals like virtual server setups and cyber-security.
- Experience with the AVEVA PI application suite and adherence to industry best practices for control systems Advanced computer literacy, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, effective communication, mentoring and influencing capabilities, and the ability to
