Job Summary:

Handle radio planning activities, statistical reporting, optimize the network to achieve optimum performance, data collection for projects, drive testing, technical site surveys and participate in projects and handle all initial planning activities related to the Radio Planning and Optimization Section to perform its functions.

Job Role


  • Network Planning and Design
  • Perform analysis from drive test to identify coverage gaps and panoramic site visits to identify new emerging areas in urban and suburban.
  • Carry out propagation and coverage plots using Asset Planning Tool for both voice and data.
  • Carry out site surveys for initial search rings with subsequent follow up for confirmation and site validation.
  • Issue out SARF (Site Acquisition Request Form) to CPG/Towerco for candidate feedback
  • Carry out detailed analysis of competitor location in terms of coverage and potential capacity and suggest strategic locations for collocation with various TowerCos.
  • Translating marketing requirements into region specific network demands for 2G/3G/4G.
  • Carrying out joint visits with commercial teams to assess coverage and network status.


  • Network Expansion and Capacity Review
  • Perform Traffic Trend Analysis from statistics.
  • Study site capacity and utilization from statistics and report peak traffic trends and suggest possible expansions.


  • Site Integrations
  • Prepare Cell Design Data for new sites to be integrated including frequency plans.


  • MTN Zone Planning, Jara Analysis
  • Reviews impact of discounts on traffic profiles and associated KPIs
  • Ensure MTN Zone and Jara databases to IT and Operations are accurate and current.
  • Work with IT and Operations to resolve Jara and MTN Zone issues.


  • Special Projects
  • Liaise with Marketing/Sales/Technical Projects to ensure there is enough capacity for special events such as festivals, national programmes and festive seasons.


  • Installation of Repeaters and Mobile BTSs
  • Assess and coordinate the installation of repeaters and MBTs for EBU customers and special events.

Education

  • Minimum of a BSc. Electronic/Telecommunications Engineering

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a telecoms environment.
  • Experience in Radio Network Planning

Knowledge

  • GSM Principles
  • Digital Communication Principles
  • Proficient in oral and written English
  • Pro-active in all activities
  • Highly Innovative
  • A good knowledge of technological trends in the telecommunications industry e.g., GSM, HSDPA, HSUPA, WIFI, LTE, carrier aggregation, massive MIMO.
