Back End Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development and optimization of the core backend systems powering our investment platform. In this role, you'll work on scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support our clients in making, managing, and tracking their investments. This is a high-impact role that involves close collaboration with frontend engineers, and the product manager to build features that ensure a seamless and trustworthy client experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices that support investment transactions, portfolio tracking, and client communications
• Implement robust security and encryption standards to protect sensitive financial data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., KYC, AML)
• Optimize system performance and reliability, including monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting live production environments
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to define API requirements and data contracts
• Integrate with third-party financial systems, brokers, KYC/AML providers, and banking APIs
• Lead backend architectural decisions and contribute to technology strategy and roadmap
• Mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and enforce engineering best practices
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in fintech and backend development

Requirements

Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
• Strong experience with backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Go
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture
• Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control (e.g., Git)

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with payment gateways, trading APIs, or brokerage integrations
• Familiarity with security standards such as OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and SOC2 compliance
• Knowledge of domain-driven design and event-driven architectures
• Prior experience working in a regulated fintech or investment advisory firm
