Job Description/Requirements
We are seeking a qualified Quality Control Engineer to join our team in Ghana on a U.S. Department of State Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) project. This role is critical in ensuring construction activities meet stringent quality and compliance standards. While a Mechanical Engineering background is highly desirable, we welcome candidates with degrees in Engineering or Architecture who possess strong experience in quality control for complex projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the project’s Quality Control Plan in accordance with OBO requirements.
- Ensure all materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with project specifications and contract documents.
- Conduct inspections and audits with a focus on mechanical systems (if applicable).
- Review shop drawings, product data, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with OBO Standard Specifications.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to address discrepancies and non-compliance issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and logs for submittals and reviews.
- Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and testing records.
- Support commissioning and startup documentation, especially for mechanical systems.
- Deliver regular QA updates to project managers and OBO representatives.
- Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and government stakeholders.
- Proactively resolve quality concerns and facilitate clear communication across all parties.
- Ensure compliance with OBO Standard Specifications, IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, and other applicable U.S. codes.
- Stay informed of updates to construction standards and quality assurance practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture (Mechanical background preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QC or construction engineering, including 2+ years on OBO projects.
- Strong knowledge of submittal review and compliance processes.
- Familiarity with U.S. Government construction protocols and standards.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) – ASQ or equivalent.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
- U.S. Government Security Clearance (active or eligible) is a plus
