Key ResponsibilitiesA. Sales Planning and Target Achievement
- Develop and implement territory sales plans in line with the company's overall sales strategy.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for assigned products and geographical areas.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base within the territory.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze sales trends, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, territory plans, and performance reports.
B. Distributor and Customer Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and key accounts.
- Identify, appoint, and manage distributors and sales partners within the assigned territory.
- Monitor distributor performance, stock availability, order fulfillment, and market coverage.
- Negotiate commercial terms within approved company policies and pricing guidelines.
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
C. Market Expansion and Product Distribution
- Identify potential markets, new outlets, and underserved areas to increase market penetration.
- Ensure effective product distribution and availability across assigned sales channels.
- Monitor product visibility, shelf placement, promotional displays, and merchandising standards.
- Conduct regular market visits to assess competitor activities, pricing, customer preferences, and market opportunities.
- Provide timely market intelligence and competitor analysis to management.
D. Sales Team Management
- Supervise, coach, and motivate sales representatives, sales officers, and other field sales personnel.
- Set individual sales targets, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback.
- Conduct joint field visits and ensure effective execution of sales plans.
- Identify training needs and support the development of team members.
- Ensure compliance with company sales procedures, reporting requirements, and professional standards.
E. Trade Marketing and Promotion
- Implement trade promotions, product launches, and marketing campaigns within the territory.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to improve brand awareness and product visibility.
- Monitor promotional effectiveness and ensure appropriate use of marketing materials and budgets.
- Collect customer feedback and recommend initiatives to improve sales performance.
F. Reporting and Sales Operations
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Monitor sales volume, revenue, distribution coverage, customer acquisition, and collection performance.
- Track inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain teams to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Monitor customer credit and outstanding payments in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure timely submission of sales reports, expense claims, and other required documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. An HND with relevant experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sales, preferably in FMCG, consumer goods, food and beverages, or a related industry.
- At least 2 years of experience in field sales supervision, territory management, or distributor management is preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and expanding market coverage.
- Strong knowledge of distributor networks, wholesale and retail channels, and route-to-market strategies.
- Experience managing sales teams and monitoring field sales performance.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Good analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and develop actionable plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and sales reporting systems; experience with CRM or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- A valid driver's licence and experience driving are preferred, depending on company requirements.
