Utila provides enterprise-grade wallet infrastructure for digital assets, trusted by leading financial institutions. We enable banks, fintechs, and asset managers to securely manage digital assets at institutional scale. As we expand across Africa, we are seeking a dynamic Head of Business Development & Sales to lead our market entry and growth in the region.
Role Overview
The Head of BD & Sales (Africa) will be responsible for developing and executing Utila’s go-to-market strategy across the African continent. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on business development: identifying opportunities, building relationships with senior stakeholders, and driving revenue growth.
*This is a remote Africa-based role, ideally located in a key African hub such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, or potentially Kenya.
Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute Utila’s sales and partnership strategy across Africa.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of opportunities with banks, fintechs, payment companies, and institutional clients.
  • Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with key stakeholders, regulators, and ecosystem partners.
  • Negotiate and close commercial agreements, from pilot projects to long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with product and marketing teams to adapt solutions to regional needs.
  • Represent Utila at industry events, panels, and thought-leadership forums in Africa.
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to inform product development and corporate strategy.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships, preferably in fintech, payments, or digital assets.
  • Strong network across African financial institutions, fintechs, or digital asset ecosystems.
  • Proven track record of driving enterprise-level deals and revenue growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with digital assets, blockchain, or institutional wallets is a strong plus.
  • Ability to travel regionally as required.
