Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Operations/General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our construction company. The ideal candidate will bring a solid track record in managing construction projects, streamlining operational processes, and leading diverse teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently from budgeting and scheduling to achieving client satisfaction. This leadership role requires cross-departmental coordination to ensure operational efficiency, cost management, quality, and safety, while also driving growth and continuous improvements across the business. Activities undertaken are: Importation of Formwork, Scaffolding and Plastic Molds for sales as well as Real Estate Projects.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership and Operations Management:

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee all operational aspects of the business, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning across various departments (construction, procurement, finance, HR, Sales & Marketing etc.).
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Establish operational goals and objectives aligned with the company’s overall vision and strategic goals.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements, ensuring that resources (personnel, equipment, materials) are optimized for maximum efficiency.


Project Coordination and Execution:

  • Manage the successful execution of construction projects by overseeing project timelines, costs, and quality.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure that projects are progressing according to plan, meeting deadlines, and staying within budget.
  • Resolve operational issues that may arise during project execution, ensuring minimal disruption to the schedule and budget.


Financial Management:

Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Lead the development and management of operational budgets across the organization, ensuring that all departments and projects stay within financial limits.
  • Monitor financial performance, track costs, and implement corrective actions as needed to prevent cost overruns.
  • Analyze profit margins and ensure that the company maintains strong financial health, recommending cost-saving measures or adjustments to improve profitability.


Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, working closely with the finance department to track company-wide performance and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses for review by senior management.


Team Leadership and Human Resources:

Team Management and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate department heads and employees, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Identify staffing needs, manage hiring processes, and ensure that team members are trained, supported, and developed.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives to ensure teams are skilled, engaged, and aligned with the company’s goals.


Workforce Optimization:

  • Ensure proper allocation of human resources to meet project and operational needs.
  • Maintain a strong focus on employee retention, safety, and engagement.
  • Create a collaborative, solution-focused environment across all teams to maximize operational efficiency.


Client and Stakeholder Management:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients and stakeholders, ensuring that client expectations are met or exceeded throughout the lifecycle of each project.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring high satisfaction levels and repeat business.
  • Ensure that all client communications are timely, professional, and consistent with the company’s brand and standards.


Stakeholder Reporting:

  • Regularly report on operational and project status to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present updates on key metrics, operational challenges, and progress on strategic objectives.


Safety, Quality, and Compliance:

Health and Safety Oversight:

  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across the company, ensuring that all employees are aware of and follow safety procedures.
  • Oversee regular safety audits and ensure that corrective actions are implemented when necessary.


Quality Control:

  • Ensure that all construction work meets the company’s quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Regularly review processes, documentation, and final outputs to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Address any quality issues promptly, ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standards of excellence.


Business Development and Strategic Planning:

Growth Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the senior management team to develop and implement strategies for business growth and expansion, focusing on operational excellence and high-quality delivery.
  • Identify new business opportunities, including partnerships, new markets, and service offerings.
  • Build the company’s reputation as a leader in the construction industry by driving innovation, quality, and operational efficiency.


Contract Negotiations and Bidding:

  • Oversee contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review and approve bids and proposals for new projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
  • Manage relationships with key contractors and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.


Technology and Innovation:

Adopt New Technologies:

  •  Identify and integrate new technologies and construction methodologies that can enhance operational efficiency, improve project outcomes, and reduce costs.
  • Oversee the implementation of construction management software, project tracking tools, and other technological innovations that streamline operations.


Sustainability Initiatives:

  • Lead sustainability initiatives within operations, ensuring that projects adhere to environmentally responsible practices and energy-efficient building standards.
  • Promote green building practices and sustainable project management processes.


Qualifications and Requirements:

 Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

○ A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least a minimum of 7 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on operations management or project management.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects and overseeing operational teams.
  • Strong track record in managing budgets, project schedules, and resources efficiently.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Expertise in managing operational workflows, project management processes, and construction safety standards.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Financial acumen and experience with cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, Microsoft Office, and project management tools (e.g, MS Project, Primavera).
