Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic and Academic Leadership
- Provide overall direction for the College as a tertiary institution, ensuring growth, quality, and sustainability.
- Lead the design and delivery of academic programs, ensuring compliance with GTEC and other accreditation standards.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for institutional development, partnerships, and resource mobilization.
- Drive innovation in teaching, learning, and research, positioning CIS as a center of academic excellence.
- Oversee performance management, staff development, and succession planning.
Management and Operations
- Supervise and support academic staff, administrative teams, and student services, fostering accountability and professionalism.
- Establish effective systems for student discipline, welfare, advising, and academic progress.
- Provide timely reports and strategic updates to the CIS Board of Directors.
- Ensure prudent financial management in coordination with GISER Finance, maintaining transparency and compliance.
- Strengthen operational systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficiency and accountability across all units.
Islamic and Community Engagement (Value-Added)
- Promote authentic Islamic values within the College community through mentorship, moral guidance, and role modelling.
- Coordinate qualified scholars and staff to lead Islamic activities such as khutbahs, lectures, and Ramadan programs.
- Represent CIS at educational and community forums, enhancing its reputation locally and internationally.
- Collaborate with GISER to support scholarships and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications
Essential
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 8–10 years) in managing tertiary or higher education institutions, with proven success in strategic planning, staff supervision, and academic leadership.
- Strong knowledge of accreditation standards and experience liaising with regulatory bodies (preferably GTEC or equivalent).
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
- Proven ability to drive institutional growth, implement policies, and maintain accountability.
Desirable (Value-Added)
- Ph.D. or advanced studies in Islamic Studies, Shariah, or a related discipline.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a proven record of leading academic institutions or departments.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills in both English and Arabic.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to set a clear institutional vision and translate it into measurable results.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, staff development, and student support.
- High level of organizational and administrative competence, with attention to accountability and compliance.
- Digital literacy and familiarity with higher education systems, reporting tools, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Deep commitment to Islamic ethics, integrity, and professionalism in decision-making and leadership.
Administrative Details
- This is a full-time leadership position based at the College of Islamic Studies, Madina, Accra – Ghana.
- The role requires flexibility to accommodate occasional evening and weekend commitments related to academic planning, institutional events, and community engagement.
- Appointment is subject to a probationary period of three (3) to six (6) months, with performance reviewed by the Board of Directors.
- The Director will work in close coordination with GISER and the school Board to ensure alignment with institutional strategy, compliance, and sustainability.
