Job Description:
Team Leadership:
- Manage and supervise a team of workshop staff, including carpenters, sprayers, upholsterers, welders and the finishing / delivery team.
- Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance skills and improve productivity.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure adherence to schedules.
Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Monitor workflow and adjust schedules as needed to handle production changes or delays.
- Ensure efficient use of resources and materials to minimize waste.
Quality Control:
- Ensure that all furniture produced meets quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of finished products, addressing any defects or issues promptly.
- Work closely with the team to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment by enforcing health and safety standards in the workshop.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Address and resolve safety concerns in a timely manner.
Maintenance and Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of workshop machinery and equipment.
- Schedule and ensure regular maintenance to avoid unexpected breakdowns.
- Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Material and Inventory Management:
- Work with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and supplies.
- Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Manage storage and organization of materials in the workshop to maximize efficiency.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and cost reduction.
- Implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies to optimize production processes.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate production records, including time logs, material usage, and workforce performance.
- Report regularly to senior management on production progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare reports for performance reviews and operational assessments.
- A degree or certification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field(preferred).
- Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of production processes.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment used in furniture manufacturing.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software (e.g., ERP systems).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with typical working hours of [8 am to 5pm, Lunch break from 12pm to 1 pm, Monday to Friday].
- Will require occasional weekend work (Saturday and exceptionally Sunday) depending on workload.
