Position Summary
Gold Fields Ghana seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual for the position of Superintendent – Metallurgy (Production). The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the milling and treatment sections (Mill, CIL and elution) to ensure sustainable gold recovery at minimum cost. The incumbent will utilize available resources to identify and eliminate constraints in the mill and CIL treatment value-chain as well as maintain high standards of integrity and ensure compliance with security systems in place.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that both acid wash and elution columns are correctly measured on daily basis
Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective metallurgical standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
Provide technical advice on the different processing facilities along the process plants
Responsible for all aspects of metal and production accounting, metallurgical balance, metal security tracking and water balance
Participate in continuous improvement programs and look for opportunities to improve productivity and throughput, reduce operating costs and improve recoveries and efficiencies
Assist with the performance management and development of subordinates
Ensure area of operation is controlled in accordance with laid down operating procedures
Key Requirements
BSc. Degree or its equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing Engineering
A minimum of 10 years’ relevant metallurgical experience in a large-scale open pit gold recovery operation with a proven track record of production results
Detailed knowledge of carbon handling, solution chemistry, elution principles and practices, comminution, materials handling, pumping systems, smelting techniques
Detailed knowledge of metallurgical accounting principles and practices
Must have relevant Certification from the Mineral Commission of Ghana
Sound verbal and written communication skills with a consultative approach to problem solving and delivering operational targets
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as an ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and SAP
A valid Ghanaian driving license is required
