Job Description/Requirements
Job Description
An experienced HVAC Engineer with expertise in scoping, installing, and maintaining Schneider-Electric cooling solutions, including chillers, CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) units, and InRow cooling systems. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and reliability of cooling infrastructure in data centers, commercial buildings, or industrial facilities.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. System Design & Scoping
- Conduct site surveys to assess cooling requirements and design HVAC solutions using Schneider-Electric products (e.g., Aquaflair™ chillers, Uniflair™ CRAC, InRow DX/RC).
- Develop load calculations, airflow diagrams, and redundancy plans for critical environments (e.g., data centers).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align designs with energy efficiency goals (e.g., SE’s EcoStruxure™ platform).
2. Installation & Commissioning
- Oversee installation, wiring, and integration of Schneider-Electric cooling systems.
- Perform start-up, testing, and commissioning to ensure compliance with design specs and SE standards.
- Troubleshoot installation issues (e.g., refrigerant leaks, electrical conflicts) and validate system performance.
3. Maintenance & Optimization
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on chillers, CRACs, and InRow units.
- Monitor system performance via EcoStruxure™ Asset Advisor or BMS (Building Management Systems).
- Optimize settings for energy efficiency (e.g., adjusting setpoints, VFDs, airflow balancing).
4. Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose faults (e.g., compressor failures, condenser issues, sensor errors) using Schneider-Electric diagnostic tools.
- Replace components (e.g., fans, motors, refrigerant circuits) and ensure OEM compliance.
- Respond to emergency outages and minimize downtime.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to ASHRAE, NFPA, and local HVAC codes.
- Maintain logs of maintenance, repairs, and system modifications.
- Provide training to facility staff on SE system operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/HVAC or equivalent certification (e.g., EPA 608 for refrigerant handling).
- Experience: 5+ years in HVAC engineering, with hands-on experience in Schneider-Electric chillers/CRAC/InRow systems or other equivalent OEM e.g. Vertiv.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in EcoStruxure™, BMS, and HVAC control systems.
- Knowledge of refrigerant cycles, psychrometrics, and CFD airflow modeling.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Certifications:
- Schneider-Electric product certifications (e.g., Uniflair/InRow OEM training).
- OSHA 10/30 for safety compliance.
Preferred:
- Experience in data center cooling (e.g., hot/cold aisle containment).
- Familiarity with sustainable cooling technologies (e.g., free cooling, adiabatic systems).
Work Environment
- Fieldwork: 70% (on-site installations, maintenance).
- Office: 30% (design, documentation).
- Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
