Your Impact

• To manage surface and underground mine water infrastructure and equipment with the aim of delivering optimum productivity whilst maintaining the highest standards regarding safety, efficiency, and good housekeeping.
  

As Part Of Our Team You Will
Pump Operations and Monitoring

• Operate, inspect, and monitor underground pumps and pipelines to ensure continuous and efficient dewatering of sumps and working areas.
• Maintain surface water storage facilities including settlers and service tanks.
• Record pump operating hours, pressure, and flow readings at designated intervals.
• Detect, assess, and report any abnormal noise, vibration, or performance deviations.
• Maintain operation within approved parameters, follow supervisor instructions, and take appropriate corrective actions to minimize process variations.
• Inform the supervisor of required spares, materials, and consumables, and assist in maintaining an organized inventory.
• Report any significant or prolonged production variances to the supervisor.
• Coordinate shutdowns and start-ups of underground infrastructure to minimize production delays and ensure safe resumption of operations.
  

Routine Maintenance

• Conduct basic preventive maintenance such as cleaning strainers, checking oil levels, tightening fittings, and replacing worn hoses.
• Support maintenance teams during major repairs or pump replacements.
• Assist operations and maintenance personnel with troubleshooting plant and equipment defects / malfunctions.
• Perform equipment isolations if authorized, as and when required to do so in accordance with established procedures.
  

Water Management

• Ensure surface water channels are clear and free from obstruction to prevent surface water to the underground.
• Maintain continues supply of service water to underground operations, hydrants, and all surface operation facilities.
• Regulate pit water level, maintain valves and pipelines to prevent overflow into the underground workings.
• Communicate water level trends and potential underground flooding risks to supervisors.
  

Health and Safety and Environment

• Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness.
• Actively participate in all Newmont Ghana safety and environmental systems and initiatives.
• Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental practices.
• Identify potential hazards and action that is appropriately taken.
• Maintain high standard of efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.
• Raise, discuss and resolve safety issues at regular meetings.
  

Stakeholder Management and Engagement

• Consult with the Mine dewatering Supervisor to obtain necessary equipment required for pump installations.
• Liaise with the Business Partner teams to ensure sumps are properly bogged and clean.
• Liaise with the surface dewatering team to ensure continuous pumping from both underground and surface dewatering facilities.
  

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

• A trade qualification in a mechanical, electrical, plant operation or related field is highly desirable.
• Completion of WASSCE or equivalent is essential.
  

Additional Knowledge

• MINCOM Operator Competency.
  

Experience

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ Pump Operation experience and underground experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of water management and pumping activities
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders.
• Possess interpersonal skills required to liaise with Business Partners.
