About the Role:
The Manager, HR & Safeguarding position is responsible for aligning organizational objectives with employees and management of BRAC Ghana through executing HR, talent management, and performance management strategies. The incumbent provides tactical and operational support on all aspects of HR operations to achieve the institution’s goals and objectives in the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources by conducting investigations, maintaining records and representing the organization at hearings if needed.
- Uphold the BRAC vision, mission, core values and policies
- Implementing functional HRMS, Payroll system and internal databases across all departments and locations.
- Work closely with key management staff at country level and Regional Safeguarding Manager to identify, develop and retain high potential women employees in BRAC Ghana.
- Ensure internal talent mobility and manage the talent mobility process.
- Manage end-to-end senior level hires of BRAC Ghana, and partner with hiring agencies and country HR team to ensure the right talent in the key roles.
- Establish performance driven culture in BRAC Ghana, partner with the performance management specialist in BIHRD and country HR team to drive the performance management system.
- Provide support and input on BRAC Ghana company restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with the management team, HR team and employees and collaborate effectively to create ground for acceptance and friendly adoption of BRAC Ghana HR strategies.
- Assist international employees of BRAC Ghana with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
- Capability building – the development of people and processes to ensure the delivery of HR services across the country and ensure greater employee engagement, motivation, and productivity.
- Analyse HR data in partnership with the country HR team in order to develop and enhance solutions, processes, and programmes that address current problems and avoid future issues.
- Partner with the legal team of BRAC Ghana as required in order to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance in day-to-day management of employees.
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the institution’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Oversee and manage safeguarding activities and reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do the same
Academic Qualifications:
- Masters/Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Business Administration, psychology or related field.
Required Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:
- Strategic thinking and planning: As the leader of the HR department, the Head of HR must have the ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with the organization's goals.
- Leadership and management: The Head of HR must have strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead and manage the HR team and develop a positive organizational culture.
- Communication and interpersonal skills: The Head of HR must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and effectively communicate HR policies and procedures to employees.
- Change management: The Head of HR must have the ability to manage change effectively, especially during periods of organizational change, and ensure that employees are effectively supported through the transition.
- Legal and compliance knowledge: The Head of HR must have a strong understanding of employment laws and regulations to ensure the organization is in compliance with all legal requirements.
- Business acumen: The Head of HR must have a good understanding of the organization's business objectives and financial goals to align HR strategies with these goals.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: The Head of HR must be able to analyze data and information to identify HR trends and issues, and develop solutions to address them.
- Emotional intelligence: The Head of HR must have a high level of emotional intelligence to effectively manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, and maintain positive relationships with employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in a large, complex organization. INGO experience is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices, laws, and regulations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence others.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand and align HR strategies with overall business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing talent management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and training and development programs.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, from front-line staff to senior management
