Role Summary
We are seeking to recruit a HR Advisor to support our teams in countries across West and Central Africa. The role will report to the People Business Partner - West & Central Africa.
This is a critical role working closely with the West & Central Africa leaders and the rest of the People Operations colleagues in Africa to support in the delivery of the Institute's talent strategy, be instrumental in the growth of the Institute, and support teams on a day-to-day basis.
We are seeking a talented candidate with significant HR experience across international, complex and fast-paced organisations.
The role forms part of TBI Africa's Operations Division supports and helps pave the way for the Institute to deliver its mission. We are comprised of People Operations, Legal Operations, Finance Operations, Digital Operations and Security, Technical and Resilience Operations Teams.
The Division develops and delivers policies and processes that drive our working practices, mirror our values, and which are aligned with our strategic objectives. We ensure that our organizational capabilities equip us to meet current and future challenges and work closely with all parts of the Institute to ensure that its objectives are successfully met.
Key Responsibilities
The HR Advisor will handle end to end people matters with a key focus on the following;
Supporting the People Business Partner with cross Institute strategic talent management initiatives.
Proactive administration of all HR processes such as new starters, contract extensions, leavers, promotions, secondments, references, probation reviews, parental leave, and flexible working requests
Provide professional and efficient administrative service from the start to end of the employee lifecycle
Responsible for the data integrity of information held in our people management system and ensuring it’s always up to date
Support with the Institute’s annual and periodic audit requests
Supplier liaison and administration: managing reports and invoicing (e.g. OH, EAP, LinkedIn)
Maintaining and co-creating content within our Learning & Development platform (LinkedIn Learning)
Support the People Business Partner in handling Employee Relations cases (e.g. disciplinaries and grievances)
Producing scheduled and ad-hoc HR reports from our people management system (Workday)
Coordinating our onboarding process (e.g. organising inductions and managing our ‘buddy’ programme)
Lead our people management system data administration – data maintenance, reporting and user configuration
Administration of various country payroll cycles
Supporting, and eventually leading on, HR project work and new initiatives
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Person Specification
Strong organisational and time management skills and experience of managing and prioritising workload
Able to manage conflicting demands and an ability to prioritise accordingly
Can demonstrate discretion and respect for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information or personal matters
Understanding of West & Central Africa employment law and the role of a modern People Team function
Experience of administration or record management with a desire to get it right
Familiarity with Microsoft programmes and intermediate competency in MS Office suite.
Some knowledge of international employment law advantageous
Full understanding of HR functions and best practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Degree in Human Resources and relevant professional qualification.
Ability to communicate both in French & English is an asset (verbal & writing)
