Job summary

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role requires strong ERP system usage, disciplined financial controls, and the ability to track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support management decision-making. The ideal candidate (male or female) must be calm, composed, and demonstrate high integrity in handling financial information.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts (general ledger, cashbook, receivables, payables).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Produce management accounts and financial summaries for directors.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.


 ERP System & Process Management

  • Fully utilize the company’s ERP system for:
  • Transaction recording
  • Expense tracking
  • Sales and revenue reporting
  • Inventory and cost control
  • Ensure daily and accurate financial entries in the ERP system.
  • Work with management to improve ERP workflows and data accuracy.Train relevant staff on basic ERP finance processes when required.
  • Ensure ERP data aligns with physical records and bank statements.


Cashflow & Expense Control

  • Monitor daily cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Track expenses against approved budgets.
  • Ensure all payments are properly approved and supported.
  • Manage receivables and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
  • Prepare supplier payment schedules.


Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and file statutory obligations (GRA – VAT, NHIL, GETFund, PAYE, Withholding Tax).
  • Ensure compliance with Ghanaian financial and tax regulations.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies when required.


KPI Tracking & Performance Reporting

  • Develop, track, and report finance-related KPIs including:
  • Revenue growth
  • Profit margins
  • Operating costs vs budget
  • Debtors and creditors aging
  • Cash conversion cycle
  • Submit monthly KPI reports with analysis and recommendations.
  • Highlight financial risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.


 Internal Controls & Audit Support

  • Implement and maintain strong internal control systems.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper authorization procedures and segregation of duties.


Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks, Odoo, SAP, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (financial models, pivot tables, reports).
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Good understanding of Ghanaian tax laws and statutory requirements.


ERP & KPI Competence

  • Proven experience working in an ERP-driven environment.
  • Ability to extract meaningful reports and insights from ERP data.
  • Experience setting up, monitoring, and reporting KPIs.
  • Strong attention to data accuracy and system discipline.

  • High level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (ICAG, ACCA, or CIMA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years relevant accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project-based organization is a plus.
