Short-term Consultancy – Financial Systems & Member Management

37 Working Days | Accra, Ghana | June–September 2025

The Außenhandelsvereinigung des Deutschen Einzelhandels (AVE) is looking for an experienced consultant or consultancy team to support a Ghanaian business association in getting its internal systems on track. The assignment is part of a partnership project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented directly by AVE.

This isn’t a remote-theory-gig. It’s hands-on: you’ll be working closely with the local secretariat to improve financial planning, membership fee systems, and accounting processes that actually work in day-to-day operations.

What needs to be done

• Strengthen internal financial planning and control structures
• Build a practical system to manage and track membership dues
• Integrate and coach the use of an existing accounting system
• Deliver on-site training for admin and leadership staff
• Wrap it up with a concise report including tools and process templates

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years experience with financial systems, internal controls, and organisational development
• Strong background working with associations, cooperatives, or member-based organisations
• Proven skills in SOP development and designing tools that don’t collect dust
• Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa (ideally Ghana)
• Fluent in English and able to explain things in a no-nonsense way
• Willing to coach on-site in Accra and provide occasional remote support
