Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, conducting audits, handling accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role requires an understanding of construction-specific accounting practices and an ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We undertake Importation of Formwork, Scaffolding and Plastic Pillars for sale and also Real Estate Projects.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:


Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage financial transactions related to construction projects, including tracking project costs, progress payments, and billings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.


Cost Accounting and Job Costing:

  • Track and allocate project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, equipment rentals, and overheads.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports and analyze cost variances to ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Oversee job costing processes, including tracking the financial performance of individual construction projects.


Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with project managers to create and manage budgets for construction projects.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget and provide regular reports on financial progress and forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for the company.


Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:

  •  Manage accounts payable, ensuring that all vendor invoices are accurate, timely, and properly approved for payment.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collection of payments from clients.
  • Liaise with vendors, clients, and subcontractors regarding payment issues, disputes, or inquiries.


Tax and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including VAT/GST, withholding tax, and other industry-specific taxes.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns and other financial compliance reports.
  • Prepare documentation for external audits and assist auditors during the audit process.


 Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics, cash flow, and performance indicators.
  • Assist in evaluating financial performance of construction projects and advising on cost-saving strategies.
  • Support management in decision-making by providing accurate financial information and projections.


 Internal Controls and Risk Management:

  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects and the overall business.
  • Monitor and report on financial discrepancies or fraud risks.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, and contract accounting.


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and present financial data effectively.
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
