Job Summary

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations within the organization. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, implement effective internal controls, and provide strategic financial guidance to support business growth and sustainability. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and in-depth knowledge of financial management principles.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Manage the company’s general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.


Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Prepare detailed financial projections and cash flow analyses.


Internal Controls & Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.


Strategic & Operational Support:

  • Provide strategic input on financial planning, cost optimization, and business performance improvement.
  • Support management in evaluating investment opportunities and capital projects.
  • Contribute to strategic business decisions by providing financial insights and risk assessments.


Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor finance and accounting staff, fostering professional growth and performance excellence.
  • Establish and maintain efficient accounting processes and best practices across the department.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA designation is a strong plus. MBA is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a financial controller or similar role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Must have proven experience with restaurant-specific KPIs and cost control methods.
  • Must be proficient in restaurant POS System.
  • Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPSs, etc.)
  • Must have a strong understanding of US GAAP and internal control principles.
  • High attention to detail and integrity in financial management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
