Role Description The School Librarian will manage and organize the school’s library resources and services in an on-site, full-time role based in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Day-to-day responsibilities include cataloguing and maintaining library materials, managing circulation of books and resources, and ensuring that students and staff have easy access to information. The role involves providing library instruction to students and educators, guiding users in research techniques, and promoting effective use of print and digital resources. The School Librarian will support teachers by recommending materials that enhance the curriculum, coordinating reading initiatives, and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all library users. The position also includes maintaining library records, monitoring usage, and collaborating with school leadership to improve library services over time.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess skills in Library Services and Library Management to oversee day-to-day operations and user support.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Library Science and Metadata to catalog, classify, and organize resources effectively.
• Candidates should possess 2 years experience in Library Instruction to teach information literacy and support classroom learning.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, educators, and administrators.
• A diploma or degree in Library Science, Information Studies, Education, or a related field is preferred; prior experience in a school or academic library is an advantage.
• Proficiency with library software systems and basic digital tools, along with commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory service for all users, is highly beneficial.
