Job Summary

A Reconciliation Accountant is responsible for ensuring that financial records are accurate and consistent by performing regular reconciliations of accounts. This includes comparing internal records to external statements (such as bank or supplier statements) and resolving any discrepancies promptly. The role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and compliance.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Stock Reconciliation

  • Perform regular reconciliation of stock records with physical inventory counts.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies and report variances.
  • Maintain accurate stock records by updating the system with stock movements (in/out).
  • Work closely with the procurement and warehouse teams to ensure proper stock management procedures.
  • Monitor inventory valuation and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Cash Reconciliation

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of cash transactions across the multiple accounts.
  • Reconcile bank statements with internal records and general ledger accounts.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies immediately.
  • Ensure cash control processes and procedures are followed to minimize errors.
  • Maintain records of cash inflows and outflows for accurate financial reporting.
  • Track and reconcile trade sales with payments and key ins.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile bank statements with internal financial records on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including intercompany, receivables, payables, and fixed assets.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or unusual transactions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are documented, reviewed, and approved according to internal controls.

Financial Reporting Support:

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring accurate balances.
  • Provide reconciliation reports to internal stakeholders and auditors.
  • Support audit processes by providing requested reconciliation documentation.

Process Improvement & Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain reconciliation templates and standard procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve reconciling issues and improve processes.


Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
  • CA (Chartered Accountant) is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of accounting or finance or audit experience, preferably in reconciliation or general ledger accounting.
  • Experience in working with financial systems such as SAP, Busy, Oracle, QuickBooks, or other ERP software.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
  • Good communication skills for working with internal departments and external stakeholders.
