NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL (NSS) – CONSTRUCTION & BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site National Service Personnel role based in Accra. The successful candidate will support the company's construction and project operations, gaining practical exposure to quantity surveying, building technology, construction site activities, project administration, estimation, procurement, and general construction management.

Responsibilities may include assisting with quantity take-offs, preparation of bills of quantities, measurement of construction works, preparation and review of cost estimates, assisting with project costing, and supporting the preparation of tender and contract documentation.

The National Service Personnel may also assist with monitoring construction activities, reviewing drawings and specifications, taking site measurements, preparing progress reports, tracking materials and resources, and supporting site inspections. They may work closely with quantity surveyors, building technologists, project managers, site engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

The role will also involve supporting the team with documentation, maintaining project records, assisting with procurement and material tracking, and ensuring that project activities are properly recorded and monitored.

This position is ideal for a motivated National Service Personnel who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the construction and built environment industry, develop technical knowledge, and build practical skills in Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, and construction project operations.

Qualifications

  • Currently undertaking National Service in Ghana and available to work full-time, on-site.
  • Educational background in Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, Construction Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods, building materials, construction processes, and project operations.
  • Good understanding of quantity take-offs, measurements, costing, or preparation of Bills of Quantities will be an advantage.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good attention to detail, particularly when handling measurements, quantities, costs, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic architectural, structural, and construction drawings will be an advantage.
  • Good organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of construction-related software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or Quantity Surveying/estimating software will be an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to work on construction sites when required.
  • Ability to learn new construction processes, software, and technical tools quickly.
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, Construction, or Project Management.
  • Ability to work independently when required while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, integrity, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Previous internship, industrial attachment, or work experience in construction, quantity surveying, building technology, or a related field will be an advantage.
