Mine Captain – Underground Dewatering & Paste Backfill Services

Purpose of the Role
The Mine Captain is responsible for coordinating the installation, maintenance, and efficient operation of underground water management systems and paste fill services. This includes oversight of dewatering pumps, pipeline networks, mine drainages, paste bulkheads, paste reticulation systems, and related underground/surface infrastructure. The role ensures that flood controls and paste fill procedures are implemented safely and in line with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities – Dewatering & Water Management
- Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of underground dewatering systems.
- Plan and monitor water levels and flow to prevent flooding.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of water systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, hydrogeology, and operations teams.
- Oversee water storage systems for underground operations.
- Uphold strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
Key Responsibilities – Pastefill Services
- Install paste bulkheads, shotcreting, cable bolting, and grouting.
- Manage paste fill equipment and instrumentation.
- Inspect paste reticulation and fill points.
- Oversee procurement and ensure paste fill quality control.
- Perform other related duties assigned by supervisors.

- Achieve SHE targets and report incidents promptly.
Required Skills & Capabilities

Knowledge Requirements
- Underground/surface dewatering systems expertise.
- Knowledge of pastefill systems and underground installations.
- Strong understanding of underground water infrastructure.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of Ghana Mining Regulations (LI 2182).
Experience
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in underground mining with emphasis on dewatering, water management, and paste fill operations.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mining or related field.
- Mine Captain or Geotechnical Certificate of Competency.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Ghanaian Driver’s Licence.
