Job Summary

The Head of Finance is a crucial member of the senior leadership team, responsible for operationalizing the financial strategy, planning, and growth of the company. The Head of Finance supports the CFO to ensure that the financial resources are deployed to align with the overall business objectives of the organisation. This role involves financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cashflow management, forecasting, regulatory and financial reporting to ensure the company’s growth and alignment with strategic goals. The Head of Finance will oversee treasury and investment activities, capital structure decisions, drive business performance, and manage the financial risk of the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), the Head of Finance will support strategic financial direction, drive financial performance, and collaborate with other leaders to drive business growth and sustainability.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Implement financial strategies that support the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other leaders to drive the company’s growth.
  • Work with all teams across the company and group to develop budgets, forecasts as well as financial models and projections.
  • Plan strategy to boost company performance.
  • Lead the analysing of market and customer data to identify trends and preferences that inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) that directly link financial performance to strategic business outcomes, enabling proactive adjustments.
  • Lead the creation of executive dashboards that highlight critical financial metrics in an easily digestible format for informed decision-making.
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools for real-time financial reporting, enabling quicker decision-making processes that support strategic initiatives.
  • Direct financial resources toward high-potential market segments to ensure that investments align with customer demands. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to support decision-making.
  • Manage the company’s treasury function, including cash flow management, investment strategies, and capital allocation.
  • Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring that the company’s financial practices comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, tax, and audit functions.
  • Ensure the integrity of data and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Manage relationships with shareholders, directors, regulators, team leaders, group companies, service providers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead financial due diligence and integration for potential mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic investments.
  • Lead initiatives to integrate technology innovation into the financial management processes of the organisation.
  • Lead data strategy of the company, ensuring insights from data are implemented for business growth.
  • Support related companies in the group with financial management activities.



Skills & Requirements:

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in leveraging digital tools and technology solutions to automate and optimise financial strategy, operations and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial risk management practices, including compliance with banking regulations.
  • Deep understanding of financial management, financial modelling, accounting principles, and financial regulations in the banking sector.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling to drive data-driven financial decisions.


Functional Competencies

  • Ability to think commercially and develop long-term financial strategies that align with the group’s goals.
  • Expertise in managing capital structure, funding, and liquidity to support business growth.
  • Strong ability to oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in managing the budgeting process and forecasting financial performance.


Leadership Competencies

  • Ability to lead other with strategic vision that aligns with the company’s long-term goals.
  • Strong ability to mentor, coach, and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in managing financial changes within a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex financial information to various stakeholders, including the executive team and board of directors.
  • Demonstrates commercial awareness in decision-making.



Educations & Professional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Finance or Accounting A qualified accountant, ACCA, CA or any other recognisable qualification.
  • 5 -7 years' experience (2 years of which must have been in a senior leadership position).
  • Experience working in banks, telcos, international remittance companies or Fintech Experience working in a startup is a plus.
