Job Summary
The Board of Directors of Microfin Rural Bank PLC, a licensed and reputable rural bank operating under the supervision of the Bank of Ghana and a member of the ARB Apex Bank network, is seeking applications from qualified, experienced, and committed professionals to be considered for appointment to the Board of Directors.

Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Board members will work collectively to:
- Provide strategic direction, monitor performance, and ensure long-term sustainability of the bank.
- Ensure the bank complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements including Bank of Ghana and ARB Apex Bank regulations.
- Establish appropriate policies and ensure sound corporate governance.
- Oversee and evaluate management performance in line with the bank’s vision and strategic goals.
- Approve budgets, risk management frameworks, credit policies, and investment decisions.
- Promote accountability, transparency, and ethical standards.
Requirements/Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following:
- Be a Ghanaian citizen in good standing.
- Possess a minimum of a first degree in any of the following: Banking, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, ICT, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Hold a minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably at a senior level in banking, finance, law, auditing, ICT, academia, entrepreneurship, governance, or public service.
- Demonstrate high integrity, maturity, independence of thought, and good judgment.
- Have no record of bankruptcy, criminal conviction, or adverse findings from a regulatory authority.
- Be able to pass the Bank of Ghana’s approval test in accordance with Section 60 of the Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
- We are particularly interested in professionals with:
- Prior experience serving on a corporate board or board committee.
- Expertise in areas such as credit risk, internal audit, corporate law, rural banking operations, or digital banking.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic dynamics of rural communities.
- A willingness to actively participate in Board and committee meetings and devote sufficient time to the bank’s affairs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
Tenure and Commitment:
- Board Members shall serve for a term of three (3) years, renewable twice subject to performance and regulatory approval.
- The position is non-executive, and Board Members are expected to commit time for quarterly meetings, emergency meetings, strategy retreats, and relevant training.
- Directors shall be remunerated in accordance with the approved allowances and fees of the bank, subject to regulatory limits.
