Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for managing the Financial Operations and Reporting of Southern Water Company. This role involves Management Report Preparation, Budgeting & Budgetary Control, Compliance to Financial, Procurement and Statutory policies and Controls, overseeing all company account reconciliation and leading the external audit process. The role is essential to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Spearhead the preparation of the Company’s Annual and Monthly budget preparation and ensure strict budgetary Compliance.
• Oversee Revenue Generation and Reporting to mitigate any potential Revenue Loss.
• Oversee and review the preparation of the Company’s Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Management Report to the Holdings Group.
• Ensure the completion of the Company’s Month-end and Annual Financial closure for its External and Internal Audit
• Ensure Compliance and Adherence to Company policies and the LMI Core Values.
• Oversee Subsidiary treasury to ensure liquidity.
• Any other responsibility in line with the Company’s financial operations
  
  

Qualifications/Experience

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• A professional accounting certification (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably in the utility or water sector.
• Strong experience in budgeting, General reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and any other Tools.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to use Sage X3 accounting software.
• Knowledge of the Ghana Free Zones regulations.
