TECHNICAL MANAGER – JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Technical Manager

DEPARTMENT: Technical

DUTY STATION: Greater Accra

REPORTS TO: Chief Technical Officer

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIPS: OEM Suppliers, Clients, All Staff

Overall Job Purpose

The Technical Manager is responsible for assisting and supporting the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) in driving the company’s service strategy. This includes designing and packaging innovative technological solutions from our network of partner OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for both existing and prospective clients. The role involves close collaboration with key internal stakeholders, including the Sales and Finance teams.

The Technical Manager also works closely with the Service Delivery Controller to ensure effective delivery, monitoring, and management of technical projects and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with clients and subcontractors. The role requires leadership and initiative in managing a team of IT engineers and maintaining strong relationships with OEMs, including overseeing certifications essential to service delivery.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the IT industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Valid certification in Networking (e.g., CCNA) or Enterprise Systems.
  • Additional certifications in Project Management (PMP or PRINCE2) and ITIL will be advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, analytical, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team development skills, with experience in performance evaluations and resource allocation.
  • Strong execution focus with a delivery-oriented mindset to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and action-driven; able to manage relationships with 3rd-party service providers.
  • Strategic thinking with an understanding of market trends and business growth drivers.
  • Technical proficiency in:
  • Server and desktop hardware
  • Operating systems
  • Network technologies (including firewalls and load balancers)
  • Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Server virtualization
  • Messaging and collaboration systems (MS Exchange, SharePoint, Cisco Unified Communication, Archiving)
  • ITIL framework

Ensure execution and management of departmental strategy in alignment with company procedures, policies, and core values. Must work well in a structured environment and uphold a strong culture of discipline.

Requires sound judgment in decision-making within the company’s frameworks, balancing excellent service delivery with commercial goals. The role demands leading by example and addressing inefficiencies or biases within the team.

3. Operational Excellence

Apply a “right-first-time” approach to all service activities. Effective planning and communication with both internal stakeholders and client representatives are critical to success.
