Job Summary

The Payment Switching and Terminals Engineer will provide technical and operational support for the company’s payment systems, terminals, and switching platforms. The role involves system administration, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and ensuring smooth performance of payment applications and devices. The engineer will also lead testing and implementation of new system enhancements, coordinate user acceptance testing, and work closely with business and technical teams to deliver reliable and secure payment solutions.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide application support including system administration, technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident resolution and where required, escalation.
  • Function as a liaison between the business line, operations, and the technical areas.
  • Assume a primary role in the testing and implementation of new processes, applications, enhancements and/or conversions.
  • Coordinate activities around user acceptance testing of product enhancements including development of UAT test plans, coordinate subject matter experts and customers testing, and ensure internal and external release quality.
  • Regularly review existing solutions and propose new solutions to improve processes to minimize the operational risk..
  • Resolve issues and questions escalated to support on a timely and effective basis, perform root-cause analysis, and propose application technical and process updates to permanently resolve issues.
  • Lead the development of unit and integration testing plans, testing scripts, enhancements, custom modifications and interfaces to be developed.
  • Provide, or require responsible parties to provide, root cause analysis for any systems or process issue; ensure remediation plans are devised, discussed and agreed up that result in permanent resolution of issues.
  • Ensure devices are rightly Prep and deployed and perform system set-up for customers, While operating within the company’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
  • Ensure system enhancements follow the appropriate guidelines, meet or exceed user requirements, and are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Identify product enhancements, documents business needs and determines development impact to current system processing.
  • Perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.



Qualifications & Requirements:

  • BA/BSc in IT or other related discipline with emphasis on MIS, Finance, or Business.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Payments Product or Operations groups including Treasury Management, Card Services, or Global Payments. card services industry



Specific Knowledge Requirements:

  • Experience of working and support of EFT platforms and Payment channels.
  • Proficiency in system management and administration.
  • Experience with commercial card processing systems and accompanying applications preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Solid experience of relational database management systems (RDBMS) (i.e. Oracle or MS SQL).
  • Experience of small to large scale transactional systems within a fraud/application support role.
  • Competent user of MS, specifically Excel, Access, Outlook and Word.
  • Experience of working with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Experience of working with remote teams.
  • Experience of Unix shell scripting, .Net, C#, ASP.Net programming, Power Shell.
  • Knowledge of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) regulations.
  • Good understanding of payment processing and fraud prevention processes.
  • Experience of working in a DevOps role/environment.
