Job summary

The Relationship/Loan Officer is responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships while promoting and managing loan products that meet customers’ financial needs. The role involves identifying prospective clients, assessing creditworthiness, processing loan applications, and ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulations. The officer acts as a trusted financial advisor, providing personalized solutions, supporting portfolio growth, and contributing to the institution’s profitability through excellent customer service and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure minimum loan disbursement monthly as stated in your performance contract
  • Ensure repayment rate of 97% minimum
  • Market UCML’s Loan product
  • Ensure proper and accurate records of business and personal loan customers
  • Maintain a portfolio of personal and business loans
  • Report immediately red flags identified on loan customers for remedial action
  • Monitor loan repayment and ensure prompt payment by customers
  • Embark on customer visits and report on all clients within portfolio
  • Ensure that loans are disbursed in compliant to all company policies
  • Design and organize blitz days as part of activities geared towards increasing sales drive
  • Solicit , prepare, protect and preserve customer information as relates to company policy
  • Treat customers fairly by ensuring product information are effectively disclosed to customers and in a language that they understand, as part of the take on process
  • Receive and resolve customer compliant by the dictates of turn-around-time (TAT) for resolving customer complaints and give feedback to customers concerned
  • Be a reference-point-of-call for customer enquires
  • Daily Report on client visit and calls made to clients and responses (call report)
  • Clean desk policy to maintain secrecy
  • Display exhaustive product knowledge of all products of the company
  • Any other duties assigned by Line Manager

Experience / Knowledge

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sales and credit in the microfinance, and savings and loans, relationship management or any other similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications


Qualification

  • HND or bachelor’s degree in any related field, sales/marketing will be an advantage
