Intermediate BI Developer

Responsibilities:

Power BI Development:

• Design, develop, and implement Power BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and visualisations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into meaningful insights and interactive visuals.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and quality within Power BI reports.
• Optimize performance and improve user experience by utilising Power BI best practices.

ETL Development:

• Develop ETL processes to extract data from diverse sources, transform it to meet business requirements, and load it into the data warehouse or data mart.
• Create and maintain data integration workflows using ETL tools like SSIS and Azure Data Factory
• Perform data profiling, cleansing, and validation to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Monitor and troubleshoot ETL processes to identify and resolve data integration issues.

Data Modeling:

• Design and implement data models to support efficient and accurate reporting and analysis in Power BI.
• Collaborate with data architects and database developers to optimise data structures for reporting and analytics purposes.
• Create relationships, hierarchies, and calculations within Power BI to enable insightful data exploration.

Data Governance and Documentation:

• Adhere to data governance policies and best practices to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance.
• Document technical specifications, data mappings, and ETL processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, data lineage, and metadata management.

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand their reporting needs and provide analytical solutions.
• Provide support and training to end users on Power BI features, functionalities, and best practices.
• Stay up to date with the latest Power BI and ETL development trends and technologies.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or similar qualification (certification or diploma) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field degree or similar qualification (certification or diploma) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  
• Strong experience in developing Power BI solutions, including designing dashboards and reports.
• Proficiency in ETL development, data integration, and data transformation using tools like SQL, SSIS, or Azure Data Factory
• Knowledge of data modelling concepts and best practices for efficient reporting and analysis.
• Familiarity with data warehouse architectures, dimensional modelling, and data governance principles.
• Understanding of database concepts, SQL querying, and performance optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify data issues and troubleshoot ETL processes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to priorities and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Continuous learning mindset to keep up with evolving technologies and industry trends.
