General Manager
Job summary
A reputable company is seeking an experienced, commercially aware and hands-on General Manager to lead the restaurant’s people, service, food-order fulfilment and day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be accountable for service quality, sales performance, cost control, customer satisfaction, team discipline and consistent compliance with company standards.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Lead daily restaurant operations, including food preparation, order processing, dispatch, customer service and shift coordination.
- Set clear performance expectations and supervise managers, kitchen staff, customer-service personnel, drivers and support teams assigned to the operation.
- Monitor sales, operating expenses, food cost, labour cost, stock usage, wastage, pricing, margins and daily sales reconciliation.
- Review operational and financial reports and take timely action to improve profitability, service speed and productivity.
- Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and delivered within agreed timelines; investigate service failures and implement corrective action.
- Coordinate effectively with Procurement, Stores, Finance, Human Resources, Logistics and other support functions.
- Oversee staff scheduling, attendance, punctuality, coaching, performance management and compliance with approved procedures.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness, workplace safety and asset protection.
- Manage inventory levels, requisitions, stock movement and wastage controls in collaboration with the Stores and Kitchen teams.
- Provide clear operational updates and recommendations to senior management and support approved business- improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree, HND or equivalent professional qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience in restaurant, hospitality, food-service, retail or high-volume operations, including a minimum of two years in a management role.
- Demonstrated competence in budgeting, cost control, inventory management, sales analysis and operational reporting.
- Strong people-management, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with point-of-sale, inventory or restaurant-management systems.
- High integrity, sound judgement, accountability and the ability to remain organised and decisive in a fast-paced environment.
