Finance Manager (Part time)
Job summary
Part-time Finance Manager for Accra-based structural engineering consultancy. Full ownership of the finance function: management accounts, project reporting, cash flow, payroll, and all GRA, SSNIT and Registrar of Companies compliance. Reports to the Managing Director. ICAG, ACCA or CIMA qualified with sole-charge experience. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function of the practice. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will manage all financial operations, statutory compliance and project financial reporting in line with Ghanaian regulatory requirements and the commercial needs of the practice. The successful candidate will produce the management accounts and also handle day-to-day transactional processing.

Responsibilities
This role requires strong technical accounting ability, commercial judgement, and the ability to work independently to fixed statutory deadlines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own the month-end close and produce a monthly management pack comprising profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, aged debtors and creditors, and project performance, with commentary on material variances.
- Maintain project-level financial records for every live commission, including work in progress, accrued income, and monthly reporting of project profitability against the fee bid.
- Raise client fee invoices at each contractual stage, run credit control end to end, and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Manage all statutory filings and payments — VAT, PAYE, withholding tax and corporate tax with the Ghana Revenue Authority, SSNIT contributions, and annual returns and beneficial ownership filings with the Registrar of Companies.
- Run the monthly payroll and maintain the timesheet system that underpins project cost allocation.
- Prepare the annual budget and rolling forecast, and prepare year-end working papers as the principal point of contact for the external auditor.
- Lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of finance systems, policies and internal controls to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance across the practice.
- Provide the Managing Director with independent financial analysis to support decisions on pricing, resourcing, investment and market expansion.
Skills
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software
- Strong working knowledge of Ghanaian tax and statutory compliance - GRA filings, SSNIT, and Registrar of Companies obligations
- Advanced Excel, including cash flow forecasting and project cost models
- Multi-currency accounting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present unwelcome numbers clearly and early
- Ability to work independently and with a team
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years experience in finance, including at least 2 years with sole or lead responsibility for a company’s finance function
- Experience within a consultancy, professional services, engineering or construction environment where revenue is earned against project fees
- Experience of Public Procurement Authority tender requirements and prequalification documentation is desirable
Qualifications
- ICAG, ACCA or CIMA qualified. Part-qualified finalists with strong standalone experience will be considered
Working arrangements
This is a part-time role 3 days per week, with flexibility over how those days are arranged. The working arrangement is remote moving to hybrid at a later date. Month-end and statutory deadlines will require the successful candidate to be available at fixed points in the month. The scope and hours of the role will be reviewed annually and may increase as the practice grows.
