Electrical Field Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical Field Engineer with proven experience in the construction and installation of high-voltage transformer stations to join a grid infrastructure project based in Ghana. This is a 6-month contract role, suited to an engineer who is technically strong, site-savvy, and confident in leading electrical works in live construction environments.

You will work hands-on at the construction site, supporting the installation, inspection, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure. The role requires close coordination with civil teams, electrical subcontractors, and project managers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality HV transformer station build.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education & Certification:

• National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Trade test or construction-related certifications in electrical installations are an advantage

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical field engineering for high-voltage transformer station construction projects
• Strong understanding of on-site electrical installation standards, safety regulations, and QA/QC processes
• Hands-on involvement in construction-phase works such as cable routing, earthing, control panels, and HV equipment installation
• Experience with testing, energisation preparation, and commissioning support

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and support all on-site electrical construction activities related to high-voltage substations
• Oversee the installation of HV transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary systems
• Verify that electrical works are completed in line with engineering drawings, installation procedures, and safety standards
• Coordinate with civil and structural teams to ensure alignment of electrical scopes with overall site progress
• Conduct on-site inspections, report progress, and raise any technical or quality concerns
• Support testing, commissioning prep, and energisation procedures
• Enforce strict adherence to HSE protocols and contribute to site toolbox talks or safety briefings

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Strong technical grounding in high-voltage electrical systems and construction delivery
• Excellent understanding of construction workflows, site coordination, and sequencing of electrical works
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, cable schedules, and layout plans
• Proactive communicator and problem-solver on live sites
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in high-pressure site environments
• Fluent in English, able to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary site teams

• Location: Ghana (site-based)
• Duration: 6 months
• Remuneration: Market-related contract rate (daily or monthly), based on experience
