Clinical Trials Project Finance Officer
Job summary
NIHR GSU Ghana Hub is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinical Trials Project Finance Officer to support the financial management of clinical trials and research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring project budgets, processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting financial reporting and compliance.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Manage and monitor budgets for clinical trials and research projects.
- Track project expenditure and ensure spending is aligned with approved budgets.
- Prepare financial reports, expenditure summaries, and budget updates.
- Process invoices, payments, reimbursements, and other project-related financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for research projects.
- Monitor budget variances and highlight potential financial risks.
- Support internal and external audits by providing relevant financial documentation.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
- Work closely with project teams and other stakeholders on financial matters.
- Support financial reporting and project close-out activities.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ICA, or equivalent is an advantage.
- At least 2–4 years of relevant experience in project finance, accounting, financial administration, or a related role.
- Experience working with research projects, clinical trials, NGOs, or donor-funded projects is an advantage.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with clinical, research, and multidisciplinary teams.
