Job summary

The Head of Internal Audit will provide independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the institution's internal controls, governance, risk management, financial, operational, and technology processes

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a risk-based internal audit plan.
  • Conduct branch, departmental, financial, operational, and systems audits.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management systems.
  • Identify control weaknesses, irregularities, and potential areas of financial or operational risk.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow up on management's implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Report significant audit findings to management and the Board.
  • Assess compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Support investigations into suspected irregularities where required.
  • Promote continuous improvement in internal controls and governance.

Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related discipline.
  • ICAG, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • 5–7 years' audit experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing, internal controls, risk management, and financial processes.
  • High level of integrity, independence, and attention to detail.
