Job summary
Our client, a mining firm operating in Ghana, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support the finance function in maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, with a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ICAG, ACCA, CIMA) considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with company policy and applicable accounting standards (IFRS).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and collections.
- Perform regular bank, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Assist with cash flow monitoring and management.
- Ensure compliance with statutory tax obligations, including timely filing and payment of VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and other applicable levies.
- Support the preparation for internal and external audits, providing schedules and documentation as required.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations, where required.
- Support cost accounting and analysis relevant to mining operations, as applicable.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory bodies as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is a strong plus; candidates working towards chartered status will also be considered.
- A minimum of 4 years’ relevant accounting experience, ideally within a mining or heavy industry/operational environment.
- Sound working knowledge of IFRS and Ghanaian tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
