Civil/Structural Design Engineer

Roles:

• Analyzing each element of a structure to determine pressure and loads generated by human or environmental influence
• Performing mathematical calculations e.g.: loads and stresses
• Designing a structure that resists all types of loads it is subject to
• Creating specifications and structural models with computer-assisted design software
• Evaluating elements configuration, alternating between analysis and design until they create a final configuration
• Writing reports and tracking project progress
• Inspecting construction sites and following safety guidelines
• Collaborating with project managers, managers, architects, drafters and other construction professionals
• Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects
• Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Team player and drive
• To be able to suggest & implement initiatives
• Excellent knowledge of construction design codes such as the Eurocode
• Excellent use of AUTO CAD & design applications such as MIDAS
• Multi-tasking
• To be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent IT skills

Qualifications:

• At least a second class upper degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 2-5 year industrial and work experience
• Knowledge of modern design applications is an added advantage
