AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate

Key Responsibilities:

System Operations and Maintenance:

• Deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
• Provision, configure, and maintain AWS resources such as EC2 instances, S3 buckets, RDS databases, VPCs, and other core services.
• Perform system upgrades, patching (kernel, errata, software), and routine maintenance tasks.
• Implement and manage security controls, including IAM policies, security groups, and network ACLs, to meet compliance requirements and best practices.
• Ensure data integrity and access control across the AWS application platform.

Monitoring, Logging, and Remediation:

• Implement and configure monitoring and logging solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other relevant services.
• Create and manage CloudWatch alarms, dashboards, and metric filters to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and operational issues.
• Troubleshoot and remediate issues based on monitoring and availability metrics, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Analyze logs to identify and resolve system and application problems.

Reliability and Business Continuity:

• Implement backup and restore strategies using AWS Backup, S3 versioning, and lifecycle policies.
• Perform disaster recovery procedures and ensure business continuity plans are in place and regularly tested.
• Implement fault-tolerant workloads and understand the differences between single Availability Zone and Multi-AZ deployments.

Deployment, Provisioning, and Automation:

• Utilize AWS CloudFormation or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
• Assist with the deployment of applications and services to AWS environments.
•  Identify and remediate deployment issues (e.g., service quotas, subnet sizing, permissions).
• Implement automation using scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) to streamline operational tasks.

Networking and Content Delivery:

• Apply networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, and firewalls within the AWS environment.
• Configure and manage VPCs, subnets, route tables, and connectivity options (e.g., VPC peering, VPN).

Collaboration and Documentation:

• Collaborate effectively with development, security, and other IT teams.
•  Maintain clear and concise documentation of AWS infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:

•  AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate certification is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 1-2+ years of hands-on experience in a systems administration or operations role, with a focus on AWS.
• Strong understanding of core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, RDS, EBS, etc.).
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).
• Familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
