Job summary
Clozar Africa is seeking a dynamic, analytical, and highly structured Mid-Level Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing multi-currency transaction accounting, cross-border remittance reconciliations, and digital wallet balancing on our borderless commerce platform. Operating in a full-time capacity, this role is critical to maintaining the financial stability, liquidity, and cost-efficiency of our high-volume logistics and e-commerce tech ecosystem across West Africa. The ideal candidate will safeguard financial compliance, mitigate foreign exchange exposure risks, and drive absolute accuracy across our digital and physical ledgers.

- Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain meticulous, up-to-date digital ledgers across multiple currencies (GHS, NGN, SLE, USD); record daily cross-border e-commerce sales, logistics charges, and tech service revenues.
- Oversee international and local supplier invoices, execute timely borderless vendor payouts, and ensure accurate tracking of automated and manual disbursement receipts.
- Conduct daily and weekly reconciliations of client digital wallets, multi-currency mobile money accounts, escrow balances, and credit card payment gateways against bank deposits.
- Work closely with operations and logistics teams to track cross-border cargo transit costs, fuel margins, and customs duties; carefully monitor foreign exchange (FX) conversion spreads to prevent leakages.
- Prepare precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (including multi currency Profit and Loss accounts, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow trends) to deliver strategic insights for executive decisions.
- Assist management in crafting annual budgets and rolling cash flow forecasts; analyze variances across regional hubs to optimize spending efficiency.
- Ensure total alignment with corporate policies and West African financial regulations; prepare, review, and file all statutory tax requirements (including VAT, withholding tax, PAYE, and corporate tax) in collaboration with regional legal consultants.
- Design and implement bulletproof internal control workflows to detect and prevent automated system anomalies, external fraud, or physical/digital cash discrepancies.
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a high-volume FMCG or retail environment.
- Strong technical experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) alongside a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and a proven ability to work under pressure to meet tight financial deadlines.
- Salary: GHS 3,000 to GHS 3,500, scaled according to technical proficiency and experience.
- Working Hours: Standard full-time corporate hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
