We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our growing product and engineering team. The ideal candidate combines creative visual design with analytical UX thinking to deliver seamless, inclusive, and data-driven user experiences across mobile, web, USSD, social etc.
Key Responsibilities
User Research & Insights
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to understand customer behaviors across African markets.
- Analyze customer journey maps to identify UX gaps and recommend design optimizations.
- Collaborate with Data and Product teams to integrate behavioral insights.
Experience & Interface Design
- Design mobile-first, responsive UIs for iOS, Android, web, dashboard etc.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and design systems using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
- Maintain brand consistency while adapting for partner experiences.
- Design flows for new digital channels like WhatsApp, USSD journeys, and 3rd Party integrations.
Design Systems & Accessibility
- Maintain and evolve the Points Africa design system — components, typography, and color tokens.
- Ensure adherence to WCAG accessibility and localization standards for multilingual African users.
- Partner with front-end teams to translate designs into pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces.
Collaboration & Prototyping
- Work in agile sprints alongside developers, QA, and product owners.
- Present design rationales and prototypes to stakeholders for feedback and iteration.
- Support QA testing and UI validation during releases.
Innovation & Standards
- Stay current with emerging design and fintech UX trends (e.g., conversational UI, gamification, data visualization).
- Contribute to continuous UX improvement for omnichannel journeys (App, Web, POS, WhatsApp, and SMS).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in UI/UX design for fintech, mobile apps, or SaaS platforms.
- Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Illustrator, or After Effects.
- Solid grasp of Design Thinking, User-Centered Design, and agile methodologies.
- Experience designing for multi-device, low-bandwidth environments typical in African markets.
- Strong understanding of UX principles for mobile payments, digital wallets, and loyalty systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present design concepts to non-design stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Flutter, ReactJS, or design-to-code collaboration workflows.
- Exposure to analytics and behavioral tools (e.g., MoEngage, Mixpanel, Hotjar, GA4).
- Familiarity with fintech ecosystems or loyalty platforms.
- Experience working in cross-country or multicultural teams across Africa.
