Your Impact
- Manage hydrogeological studies and water resources and provide geotechnical expertise to ensure ground stability, support safe mining operations and ensure sustainability.
As Part Of Our Team You Will
- Assist field-based studies using advanced hydrogeologic and geometric analysis techniques, including hydrogeological and geologic mapping at various scales.
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and executing plans to enhance the operation’s slope stability program and suitable mining bench.
- Collate hydrogeological studies with other geologic datasets such as geophysical, remotely sensed, spectral, geochemical and metallogenic data.
- Provide, implement, and evaluate mine design parameters for current and future pit, waste dumps, and other facilities on the mine.
- Oversee geotechnical and hydrological instrumentation monitoring, data collection activities, structural mapping, pit dewatering rate, and core logging.
- Implement geotechnical drilling, mapping, and laboratory tests to anticipate any changes which may affect the geotechnical features of the mining area.
- Oversee the continuous monitoring of pit walls through visual inspections and instrumentation to warn of any potential instabilities.
- Provide accurate, timely, and relevant geotechnical and hydrological information to the Mine Operations supervisors, team members, planners, and site management.
- Evaluate relevant risks, apply mitigation measures, and continuously monitor for risks.
- Provide training in hydrogeology and geotechnical activities as required in an informal or formal setting.
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Bachelors Degree in Geology / Geological Engineering / Earth Science/ Civil Engineering.
Experience
- Experience in hydrogeological monitoring/mapping, data integration, analysis, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of hydrogeology, structural geology, and advanced geometric analysis techniques.
- Solid understanding of practical Mine operations and/or project execution knowledge.
- Demonstrated understanding risk management and business improvement principles and practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of project and/or contract management.
- Minerals Commission Statutory Certifications as required for site.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in hydrogeology, structural geology, and risk management.
- Advanced proficiency in geotechnical engineering, slope stability, mine design, and hydrological instrumentation.
- Competence in using in hydrogeology software application including water balance modelling.
- Competence in geotechnical monitoring, geotechnical and hydrological tools, data collection, and risk mitigation relevant to mining method.
- Competence in risk management and business improvement principles and practices.
- Competent proficiency with project and/or contract management.
