Chinese Translator (Mandarin/Cantonese)

Key Responsibilities

• Translate written materials such as documents, reports, contracts, manuals, emails, and marketing content from Chinese to English language and vice versa.
• Provide oral interpretation during meetings, conferences, negotiations, and virtual calls as required.
• Ensure translations accurately convey meaning, tone, and intent of the original content.

Quality Control and Editing

• Proofread and edit translated materials for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
• Maintain terminology consistency using glossaries and translation memory tools.
• Review and revise translations based on feedback from clients or internal teams.

Cultural and Contextual Accuracy

• Adapt content to ensure cultural relevance and appropriateness for the target audience.
• Advise stakeholders on cultural nuances, language usage, and communication etiquette.

Specialized Translation Support

• Handle specialized translations in areas such as business, legal, technical, medical, or academic fields.
• Conduct background research to understand industry-specific terminology and concepts.

Confidentiality and Compliance

• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
• Adhere to professional ethics and translation standards.

Collaboration and Project Management

• Work closely with project managers, clients, and subject matter experts to meet deadlines.
• Manage multiple translation assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Track progress and provide status updates on translation projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Chinese Studies, Linguistics, International Relations, or a related field.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and the target language.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Proven experience in translation or interpretation is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Certification from a recognized language institution.
• Experience in a specialized field (legal, technical, financial, or medical translation).
• Familiarity with localization and multilingual content adaptation.
