Job summary
We're looking for a senior backend engineer to work on the platform. This role sits at the intersection of product functionality, platform reliability, and enterprise security.
Job descriptions & requirements
Job responsibilities:
- Technical leadership: Define and own the assigned area & platform’s architecture and standards, make trade-offed design decisions, drive high- impact backend improvements across the pipeline, and communicate a clear technical roadmap.
- Hands-on backend engineering: Build and evolve ingestion, processing, and retrieval services/APIs, strengthen async pipelines (RabbitMQ, retries, backpressure), enhance parsers, and optimize indexing on Qdrant/Elasticsearch for quality and latency.
- Platform ownership: Run production delivery via Helm/Kubernetes and ArgoCD GitOps, enhance observability with OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/logging/alerts, and enforce multi-tenant data isolation, security, and auditability end to end.
A general role is possible, however, depending on specialization other responsibilities may be discussed. These include:
RAG and Knowledge Ingestion
- Experience improving retrieval quality in production using embeddings, vector search, or RAG-style retrieval systems
- Build and evolve ingestion, processing, and retrieval services/APIs, strengthen async pipelines (RabbitMQ, retries, backpressure), enhance parsers, and optimize indexing on Qdrant/Elasticsearch for quality and latency.
- Strong experience building ingestion or unstructured data pipelines, ideally involving document parsing across formats such as PDF, Office documents, HTML, or email
- Retrieval and document intelligence: Partner with AI engineers to advance chunking, embeddings, metadata, and RAG patterns; integrate Python services for agentic workflows; improve retrieval via better indexing/enrichment/evaluation and adopt OCR/layout/table extraction when it moves the needle.
Authorization and User Management:
- Strong domain experience in authorization, identity, or user management systems in production SaaS environments
- Excellent system design skills: you can model roles, permissions, policy propagation, and service boundaries in a way that stays understandable as the platform grows
- Experience with enterprise identity concepts such as SSO, RBAC, provisioning, deprovisioning, webhooks, SCIM, or IdP integrations
- Identity and provisioning integrations: Own external identity integrations (e.g., Zitadel), improve sync for user/role lifecycle and deprovisioning, and implement enterprise features like external groups, SCIM-style provisioning, and metadata sync.
Chat and AI Platform
- AI platform capabilities: Enhance the LLM orchestration layer (streaming, tool calling, multi-model routing), integrate Python/MCP tools, and drive lower latency, higher reliability, and better cost efficiency.
Job requirements:
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience with strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js and structured backend frameworks like Nest.js
- Experience as a technical lead for a backend or platform domain, with ownership of architecture, technical direction, and mentoring
- Hands-on backend engineering:
- Strong database, indexing, and retrieval experience across PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Qdrant, or similar systems
- System design maturity: you can design for scale, failure handling, service boundaries, and pragmatic trade-offs under real constraints
- Event-driven backend architecture: Design resilient async workflows (AMQP, background processing) to validate and propagate role/membership updates, with reliable retries and correct behavior under failures and partial reprocessing.
- Multi-tenant SaaS experience: you understand data isolation, tenant-scoped processing, and enterprise security requirements
- Platform ownership: Model GraphQL/Prisma/PostgreSQL APIs with strict tenancy, enhance observability (logs/metrics/traces/alerts) for auth/identity flows, and own production delivery via Docker/Kubernetes/Helm and GitOps.
- Event-driven systems experience: comfortable with asynchronous workflows, retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency in backend services
- Testing discipline: you write tests for critical business and security logic, not just happy paths
- Engineering culture: Write robust tests for security-sensitive logic, engage in design/code reviews on auth/identity boundaries, and mentor peers to raise quality, maintainability, and operational discipline.
