Industrial Electrician / Maintenance Technician
Job summary
The Industrial Electrician / Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and industrial equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. The role involves conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, replacing faulty components, and responding promptly to equipment breakdowns. The technician also performs routine inspections, maintains maintenance records, follows electrical and workplace safety standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to minimise equipment downtime and maintain reliable production operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based electrical control systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults during live factory operations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot:
- Contactors, relays, overloads, and MCC panels.
- Motors, inverters/VFDs, sensors, and control panels.
- Factory electrical wiring and related electrical installations.
- Carry out preventive and corrective electrical maintenance activities.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Support the maintenance team in ensuring the reliability and availability of production equipment.
- Follow all applicable electrical safety procedures and company safety requirements.
- Work effectively within a 24-hour continuous production and shift environment.
Qualification and Experience
- Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician, Factory Electrician, or Maintenance Technician.
- Practical experience in PLC troubleshooting; classroom knowledge alone will not be sufficient.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of industrial motor control, electrical interlocking, and control systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve electrical faults.
- Ability to work independently on shift and respond effectively to breakdowns under pressure.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- HND or BTech in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience in an industrial or factory environment is mandatory.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting within a continuous production environment.

- Able to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work within a 24-hour, 2 × 12-hour shift system.
Location: Kumasi
Salary: Gross Salary: GHS 5,000 – 7,500 per month, based on experience and practical competence.
