Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching
- Plan and prepare lessons carefully
- Ensure that the curriculum promotes the vision and aims of the school
- Create an environment which secures effective learning across the breadth of the curriculum and to promote high standards of achievement, behaviour, discipline and attendance
- Manage and organise relevant groupings of students to ensure effective teaching and learning takes place and that students’ personal development needs are met
- Ensure that the curriculum takes into account the richness and diversity of the school’s community
- Monitor the quality of students’ achievements including the analysis of performance data
- Ensure effective assessment procedures, including assessment for learning
- Set and mark, collate, and evaluate internal examinations
- Ensure that students’ efforts are rewarded; and Cover for absent colleagues as directed
- Experience in setting up and supervising physics practicals
Administrative
- Writing of references for college application
- Ensure that you are aware of and understand the marking procedures and details on assessment and record keeping
- Keep up to date with all aspects of curriculum developments, with special reference to the Cambridge International Examinations
- Ensure that the information produced in report/transcript to parent for college application is detailed, relevant and reflects the term’s work and is specific to that student
- Ensure that rooms, equipment, wall displays etc., are maintained to a high standard and report defects promptly
- Ensure that resources are stored securely
- Advise the Headteacher about subject needs
- Keep records of all students: internal assessment, examinations both internal and external
- Encourage and engage in sharing good practice
- Participate in the duty rota
- Communicate and cooperate with other staff
- Attend staff meetings as and when called; and Attend pre-term meetings or induction days.
- Involvement in School Community
- Foster, by example, a spirit of academic enquiry in the school. Read and share books, articles etc.
- Provide inspiration and motivation to the school community
- Take responsibility for the development, work and behaviour of all students who you teach
- Help colleagues and seek advice in cases of disciplinary problems
- Support all activities within the School, including extra-curricular activities
- Support all school events
- Maintain good discipline within the classroom, the School and its facilities by carrying out the School Policy on: punctuality,respect for others, manners, appearance etc.
Student Well being
- Make sure that you are aware of special circumstances affecting students; e.g. home background etc.
- Be aware of those students who are struggling, experiencing special difficulties, or need stretching etc. and offer appropriate support
- Liaise with appropriate pastoral staff when problems involving specific students arise
- Act as a tutor as and when advised
- Safeguard students health and safety
- Help build a school culture based on the Academy’s key values and making the and
- School environment welcoming to all students from many different backgrounds.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Physics, Physics Education, Engineering or related discipline from a reputable university
- Fluency in English
- Teaching experience in the secondary school sector
- Licensed teacher by NTC or evidence of being in the process of being licensed
Highly Desirable Experience:
- Working in a multicultural team
- Knowledge of use of technology to enhance learning and school efficiencies
- Experience in teaching A-Level Physics or related international teaching experience.
- Able to cope with a busy, varied and often unpredictable workload
Desirable Experience:
