The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective mathematics instruction that helps students develop strong numerical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Lesson Delivery
- Plan and deliver mathematics lessons in accordance with the school curriculum and academic standards.
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly and guide students through logical problem-solving processes.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to support students with different learning abilities.
- Encourage students to develop confidence and interest in mathematics.
Assessment and Monitoring
- Prepare and administer quizzes, tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Monitor student progress and provide additional support where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student academic performance.
Classroom Management
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and organized classroom environment.
- Encourage active participation and engagement during lessons.
- Manage classroom discipline in accordance with school policies.
Student Support and Development
- Provide extra academic support to students who require assistance.
- Encourage critical thinking and independent learning.
- Support students in preparing for internal and external examinations.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings and participate in school activities and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with other teachers to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress when necessary.
Qualifications
- A university degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is required.
- A teaching qualification is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mathematics and analytical thinking.
- Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary: GHS1,800 - GHS2,100
